Hans Richter’s surrealistic omnibus feature film, with sequences co-created by Max Ernst, Marrcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Fernand Léger, and Alexander Calder; with music composed by John Cage, Paul Bowles, Darius Milhaud, David Diamond, and Louis Applebaum.

Shown with Glens Falls Sequence (1937-1946), Douglas Crockford’s experimental animated short which was shown at the original premiere of the feature.

Our own poster for this screening used the original 1948 poster design, with a cut-out collage piece by Max Ernst.

This was a companion program to the 2014 edition of Cinema of the Bearded Heart: Film Dada, presented the night before.
