In May 2022, Scarecrow Video livestreamed a seven and a half hour telethon in support of their Spring Campaign for crucial operating support to keep the Scarecrow Collection alive, thriving, and available for all to enjoy.
Guests and performances included interviews with legendary action superstar Cynthia Rothrock and director John Paizs; live music sets by Soft Boiled, Austin Dean, and Dean Johnson; an all-new video collage from Collide-O-Scope; a “Filmly Feud” trivia face-off between Scarecrow staff and the Grand Illusion Cinema; the Museum of Home Video, and other surprise guests...like Tom Skerritt as Bigfoot!
The Sprocket Society contributed a 25 minute segment of 16mm short films, projected onto the screen at the Grand Illusion Cinema and recorded on video. This time, we added a nifty behind-the-scenes intro segment showing how we set up in the GI projection booth. Film selections included Koko the Clown, the Pincushion Man, Superman, and super-trippy psychedlic bicentennial propaganda from the US Government.
Scarecrow Video is an independently owned, non-profit video sales and rental store in Seattle. It is the largest publicly available video library in the world, with over 157,000 titles (and growing).
